CDBS

The Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS), administered by Medicare, offers eligible children a rebate to cover a range of dental services over a span of 2 calendar years. The capped dental services amount to $1,000 within this consecutive calendar period. The count for the 2-year cap initiates with the first eligible dental service a child receives.

Eligibility Criteria

CDBS targets families already benefiting from Family Tax Benefit A payments, including children aged 2 to 17 who are eligible for Medicare and receive at least one of the listed benefits. This incorporates services under the Veterans’ Children Education Scheme (VCES) and the Military Rehabilitation and Compensation Act Education and Training Scheme for children 16 years or older.

Eligibility assessments occur at the commencement of each calendar year, with coverage extending throughout the year. Any unspent funds in the first year carry over to the second year.

Covered Services

CDBS encompasses dental services such as examinations, routine cleaning, repairing cracked teeth, fillings, and root canals. The covered services include a range from routine examinations to extractions and partial dentures. Notably, services like orthodontics, cosmetic dental work, and hospital-based dental treatments are not included.

Albert Street Dental proudly offers services under the CDBS scheme. Find more information here.
